The technology of vacuum cleaning has improved over the last few years.
With each new model, the new features included seem to be more attuned
to the commercial cleaning service providers. What would then be the
perfect vacuum cleaner? This depends upon the tasks at hand for the
vacuum cleaner.
The biggest difference between the old vacuum cleaner and the newer
models is weight. With the reduction of weight, the vacuum cleaner is
thus easier to control and produces lesser strain on the operator. The
downside of this reduction in weight is a smaller motor and lighter
components. But the new innovations include smaller motors but packing
more power as the bigger ones of yesteryear. There would come a time
that brush speed and suction power would be at par with the bigger older
models at a quarter of the weight. This is the ideal as one becomes more
efficient when one uses these light weigh models packing great power in
their minute motors.
Maneuverability is also a key factor in vacuum design. With the fierce
competition for commercial contracts, the speed and efficiency of the
cleaning service provider becomes a factor to consider in retaining
services. A new type of commercial vacuum cleaner is called the backpack
cleaner. It runs on battery power and is lighter in weight. Plus, it
removes the limiting cord on conventional vacuum cleaners. With this
innovation, a marked increase in performance has been seen in the
cleaning services using the back pack as against one which uses a one
hundred foot cord. It may cost a little more, but the labor savings can
easily recoup this small investment. So small nooks and crannies are not
safe anymore in their dust build up as the cleaner may even walk up and
about and even up walls to clean up the unwanted dirt and grime.
Another issue is the resultant noise of vacuum cleaners. The
conventional cleaner is a mechanical sweeper called a hokey during
office hours. Smaller vacuum cleaners work best on light dirt and grime
but may not provide a very thorough clean up. The innovations now are
the focus on more vacuum power and lessening on the mechanical aspect of
the equipment. Thus, rechargeable vacuum sweepers are now being used in
high density areas with great power and less noise. They can handle wet
or dry dirt and able to run for two hours before needing to be
recharged. And having lesser mechanical parts, what is heard is the
swoosh of air suction which means removal of dust which is both
unsightly and unhealthy.
So as can be seen, vacuum cleaner technology has leaped and bounded from
the old sweepers of antiquity. And this will not end here, as more
innovations develop so will the equipment improve efficiently and the
price would drop definitely. They have become smaller and more
maneuverable with lesser noise so that the sweet sound of an air rush
will calm the nerves of a frazzled homeowner up to their ears in dust
and debris.
